The classroom was silent, Trithiya said, “Take out the copies and note down the time table students.”
Jungkook leaned back on his bench and said, “Is it really important to write this?”
“Unfortunately, Yes.” Taehyun said, noting down a few words. Groaning, Soobin and Jungkook pulled out their books and decided to write. Jungkook shuffled through his bag and said, “I forgot my pen.”
“Bhai mere paas sirf ek hi hai.” Taehyun and Soobin said in synchronization. The pen, which barely had any ink, stood proudly in their hands.
"Brother, I have only one."
Jungkook sighed, he looked at the front and gently tapped Yeonjun's shoulder. Yeonjun looked back and looked at him in confusion, “Yeah?”
“Do you have an extra pen?” He asked, rubbing his nape with an embarrassed smile. Yeonjun sighed dramatically and said, “Dekho janab puch kise rahe hai. Jo khud kissi aur ke pen se likh rahi hai.”
"Look, sir, from whom he is asking, who is herself writing with someone else's pen."
Jungkook blinked, clearly confused. Yeonjun said, “Wait, She have.”
“Tae, ek degi isse?” Yeonjun asked, pointing at Jungkook. Taehyung looked at Yeonjun and then turned slightly back, looking at Jungkook.
"Tae, will you give one?"
At that moment, for the very first time, they had a direct eye contact, her eyes were big, almond, almost carrying the kind of innocence that made him to hold back a faint smile. He awkwardly smiled at her, She nodded and took her pencil pouch—a teddy bear tone.
He noticed, the brown fur pouch had a teddy bear chain hanging from it and it looked truly adorable, she shuffled through her secrets and pulled out two pens, one black and one blue. She gave them to Yeonjun and said, “Which one?”
“Which one?” Yeonjun asked Jungkook, who said, “Black…”
She took it and gave it to Jungkook who muttered, “Thanks.”
Soobin was giving him side eyes glares, Jungkook looked at him and arched his one eyebrow, a sign of asking. Soobin glared at him and started writing his notes furiously, Taehyun bit his lips to control his laugh while Jungkook sat there confused.
The bell rang and students howled like animals. Jungkook gently tapped Taehyung's shoulder with his pointer finger, a delicate brush of his finger tip against her clothed shoulder. She turned back, he forwarded the pen to her and whispered, “Thanks.”
She nodded and took her pen, no words left her lips. She packed her things and Yeonjun dragged her out along with Beomgyu. Jungkook stared at the scene, and a faint chuckle left his lips.
Jungkook and his two friends were walking down the road entrance when a voice called for Jungkook, It was Vyashali. The three straightened and bounced together saying, “Jai hind mam!”
Vyashali nodded and said, “Jungkook here is the name list. Tomorrow make sure to check it and give it to me.”
“Yes Mam.” Jungkook said and Vyashali nodded, going back. The three friends started walking, Soobin in between with Jungkook and Taehyun on his sides.
Jungkook was looking at the paper, clearly immersed in it when a brief brush of warm skin grazed him, less than a second. He looked up, startled.
It was her.
That girl who gave him the pen.
She was smiling, unaware of the silent exchange that lasted less than a second. He stilled, something inside his heart twisted, she looked…serene in a way, he didn't have the words to describe.
Shaking his head, he muttered, “Such a creep of me. How can I stare at a girl like that?! What if she gets uncomfortable.”
Taehyun and Soobin looked at him, Taehyun said, “Oh Hero.”
“Huh?” Jungkook looked up, suddenly aware of his surroundings. Soobin asked, “Kahan khoya hai?”
"Where are you lost?"
“Nahi kahin nahi.” Jungkook said, shaking his head. The two nodded. The three best friends walked out of the school gate and went to their activa. Jungkook sat on his black one and Taehyun on his blue one, Soobin went to his Violet one.
"Nowhere."
“Hey guys, let's go and have some fun. I'm bored at home.” Jungkook sat leaning against his vehicle.
“When and where?” Taehyun asked. Soobin said, “And what about studies?”
“Classes will start tomorrow. I have read almost half of my books.” Jungkook said, his voice too calm. Taehyun and Soobin sighed dramatically and said together, “Brilliant People.”
Jungkook chuckled. They were sitting in their vehicles when Jungkook asked, “Hey!”
The two looked at him. Jungkook asked further, “That girl, jisne mujhe pen diya tha class mai, maine usse kahin dekha hai kya?”
"That girl, who gave me the pen, have I seen her before?"
“Pagal hai tu?” Soobin asked, Taehyun gave him a judging look. Jungkook stared at them in confusion, Soobin said, “Bhai she's with us in NCC.”
"Are you mad?!"
Jungkook blinked and muttered, “I never paid attention.”
The two grinned, Taehyun wiggled his eyebrows and started singing, “Ye dil Haye allah kaisa hai deewana~”
Jungkook bent down, held out a pebble straight aimed at Taehyun who widened his eyes and bent down, the pebble hit the wall behind. Jungkook glared at him, saying, “Pagal!”
Soobin laughed, clearly enjoying the playful banter. The three sat on their vehicles and Jungkook said, “Alright, this evening.”
“Meet at my home.” Taehyun said, the other two hummed.
The evening was a gentle spray of grey, the wind blew a little faster, a sign of rain. The three boys sat on their vehicles in front of a stationary shop, Taehyun whined throwing his hands in the air.
“Yaar sara plan barbad hogaya!” He said, his lips twisted into an annoyance. Soobin nodded groaning. Jungkook was sitting silently, too calm.
"Ugh, the plan is spoiled."
“Wait,” Jungkook said, the two looked at him. He walked towards the road, their eyes followed him.
Jungkook stopped near a man, a little taller than him. The man was struggling with three heavy bags to cross the road, he looked a little aged, in his late 40s.
“Uncle, give me one, I'll help you.” Jungkook said, taking a step forward to help. The man looked up, surprised and said, “Arey nahi beta koi nahi, mai karlunga.”
"Arey no dear, I can do it."
“Koi baat nahi uncle, please help karne dijiye. It's not safe like this.” Jungkook insisted, his voice gentle and polite. The man smiled, he gave one of the bags to the younger boy, and gently patted his head, “bade acche bache ho.”
"No worries uncle, please let me help. It's not safe like this."
"Such a good boy you are."
“Thanks, Uncle.” Jungkook smiled, he helped the man crossing the road. The man asked, “Student ho? Kitne class mai ho?”
"Are you a student? In which class?"
“9th mai hun uncle.” Jungkook said, the man nodded and said smiling, “Boys of your age are very uncultured nowadays. I'm proud to have met a boy like you, Beta.”
"I'm in 9th Uncle."
“Thank you uncle.” Jungkook smiled a little, a little shy. He gave the bag to the man when they heard a voice, “Papa!”
They turned, and a soft smile curved on the man’s lips as a girl came rushing towards him after crossing the road.
She was wearing a beautiful white and delicate spray of rose pink floral dress, the skirt stretched to her half calf, the hem of the skirt, arm, and neck a gentle flutter. A raspberry pink thick ribbon tied around her waist forming a bow, her hair was down, a white baratte tugging near her ear. Her big almond eyes looked at her father with concern.
For a moment, Jungkook simply stared at her, her breath hitching for a second. The girl said, “Papa, mai arahi thi na!”
"Papa, I was coming na!"
The man laughed and said, “Tae, I'm fine baccha.”
Taehyung sighed, she took one of the bags from her father—Yichan and glared at him. She turned towards Jungkook and froze, for a moment nobody spoke, her voice, barely above a whisper, left her lips, “Aap..?”
"You...?"
He smiled awkwardly at her, waving a little. She smiled faintly and said, “Thank you for helping my father.”
“Her father?” Jungkook thought, his eyes widening a little. The faint smile on her lips directed at him made his heart skip a beat, he coughed and said, “I-its was my duty, as a human being.”
She nodded, her lips still faintly curved, she turned to her father, kept her hands on her hips and said, “Aap na papa ghar chaliye, mai mummy ko batati hun.”
"Papa let's go home then I'll complain to mummy."
“Arey beta mummy kahan se agayi bich mai?!” Yichan asked, his eyes wide dramatically. Tae smirked, she said, “Haan toh aapko road cross karne kissne kahan tha khatron ke Khiladi ban kar?”
"Arey beta, from where your mummy came in between?"
"So who told you to cross the road by being a khatron ke Khiladi?"
Yichan sighed and said, “Chalo, mai tumko chocolate khikaunga but mummy ko mat batana.”
"Let's go I'll treat you chocolate, but don't tell mummy."
“Hmm, the deal seems nice.” Tae said dramatically and then grinned, she dramatically shook hands with her father as if signing an alliance. Yichan chuckled.
Jungkook stared at the scene, his lips curling into a faint smile as an inaudible chuckle left his lips. He shook his head and turned away, walking to his friends. The two stood there grinning, Taehyun said, “Dekha raha hai Soobin.”
"Are you seeing Soobin?"
“Haan bhai,” Soobin grinned. Taehyun said, “Looks like aapne hone wale sasur ji ko impress karke hi manega.”
"Yes bro."
"Looks her he will make sure to impress his future father in law for sure!"
“Abhi ek kaan ke niche dunga dono taare dikhne lagenge! Chalo Ghar!” Jungkook said to him, motioning an action of violence which had no real harm. Despite his attempt to act nonchalant was betrayed by the redness of his ears.
